" The Smithy have won the Unique Holiday Cottages Unique Retreat Award. Built in the 1840s on the old Okel Tor Mine in Cornwall these buildings are steeped in history. What was once the Mine Captain's Office and Blacksmith’s Workshop, these buildings are now beautiful holiday cottages that are Scheduled Ancient Monuments in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Books are available for guests to read about the history and after recent funding there are also interpretation boards explaining all about the ruins and mines. It’s an incredible place to stay. Peace and tranquillity within walking distance of a lovely village. "
