The Duke of Portland Boathouse is a romantic holiday cottage sitting on the shores of Lake Ullswater in the Cumbrian Lake District.

Watching majestically over the lake, the boathouse has one of the most enviable locations in the whole of the Lake District. Pooley Bridge is within a short walk and has numerous shops and traditional pubs serving delicious bar meals and local ales. Aira Force is a few minutes away and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the national park, it is a must see for any visitor to the area. There are a number of villages dotted around the shores of Lake Ullswater and worth exploring. One of the best ways to get to these is on the Ullswater Steamers, jump on at Pooley Bridge and sail the lake getting off at one of the many drop off points around the lake before returning home, you will even sail right past the boathouse. There are some highly regarded restaurants within a few miles including the renowned Sharrow Bay and the Rampsbeck Hotel if you are celebrating something special, or simply want to treat yourself to a gourmet meal. Visiting further afield could not be easier either, being only a 10 minute drive from the A66 Keswick is 20 minutes away or a scenic drive over Kirtstone Pass brings you to Ambleside or Windermere. If your looking for somewhere further away from the crowds then the Eden Valley is 30 minutes away by car.
