Chipping Campden , The Cotswolds

Sleeps: 10

Bedrooms: 5

Elkstones is an elegant, five-bedroom, Cotswolds large holiday house which sits on the edge of Chipping Campden. This mellow stone, oak-beamed home has spacious gardens and luxury features such as a sauna, cinema room and swimming pool. It is conveniently located just a short walk from one of Gloucestershire’s most picturesque towns.

The contemporary and eclectic interior features exude decadence, with lavish furnishings, bespoke English-made furniture and individual design pieces. Elkstones is the perfect house in which to celebrate a special occasion, or a wonderful country retreat for a well-earned family break.

The Lounge is a beautifully light and airy room, with flagstone flooring and large sumptuous rugs. It is divided into two areas, one with an L shaped deep sofa with a bespoke bookcase and TV unit, whilst the other end is more formal, with a Chesterfield style sofa and Baby Grand piano (a local pianist is available to book for private performances).

The small cosy study is ideal for reading, decorated in rust and taupe with a Shargreen campaign desk and bookcase. Pool and relaxation area

The lower ground floor is dedicated to recreation with an indoor swim jet heated pool and ample relaxation area, with a sculptured ceramic feature wall. The large redwood cedar sauna has beech seating with rainbow LED lighting. Adjacent is a cloakroom and shower room with marble mosaic tiling and drench shower.

A cinema room where one wall is dedicated to a giant projector screen 2 metres in width with surround sound and home cinema equipment. A comfortable sofa unit runs around the room with a central Perspex floating coffee table.

The stairs feature an impressive cast iron balustrade with a central Bruce Munro designed chandelier with 300 individual clear tear drops.

The beamed kitchen is very much the heart of the house. It comprises a stylish Loxleys oak kitchen, limestone tiled floor, granite worktops, seven ring gas range with griddle, two large ovens (one with facility for pizza/bread baking), combination oven, microwave, dishwasher and an American style fridge freezer.

There is a large solid timber table which seats up to 10, ideal for breakfast, lunch or informal suppers. Striking pendant lights illuminate the space. French doors open out onto a large south facing terrace with seating area and BBQ.

The main feature of this elegant dinning room is its beautiful oval dining table in greyed oak which seats 10. A Tondo mirror in oxidised silver, a nickel chandelier, warm purple tones, luxurious carpet, lamps and upholstered chairs complete the indulgent look.

Each of the five double bedrooms (four with en suite bathrooms and one family bathroom) has an individual design. Hypnos beds with faux suede bases and wall mounted headboards, TV/DVD players, fitted cupboards and comfy upholstered chairs are a constant theme. Colour schemes include taupe, greens and blue with a splash of red and orange here and there.

The highlights of the master suite are the contemporary four poster super king size bed in oak and an impressive free standing mineral cast bath in a perfect oval for two, set on a raised platform with magnificent views out over the surrounding countryside. The marble tiled en suite bathroom has a double drench shower and the generous dressing room has a full wall of faux baby ostrich panelled wardrobes.

Bathrooms have a series of different looks, from black marble, to stone and mosaic tiling, with superior fittings from Grohe and Duravit.

Large landscaped gardens open out onto a rolling meadow. Interesting features include a ‘ha ha’ in the lower garden and the upper terrace provides a sunny area with sheltered seating beneath a circular pergola. A terrace adjacent to the kitchen makes the perfect ‘al fresco’ dining spot with built in seating, table and a BBQ.

What you can see from the windows: Beautiful Cotswolds countryside with rolling hills with wooded areas.

Sited in its own steep sided valley, the garden has hidden paths winding up from the mill-pool and stream at the bottom through the Rose Walk to the Cricket Lawn.
