Overview
Beanacre Barn offers luxury self catering accommodation and is set in the beautiful Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), in Somerset, the Beanacre Barn is an exceptionally spacious, open beamed barn which has been imaginatively converted and beautifully furnished by the present owners.
Designed for 2 persons, with the added flexibility of the quality sofa-bed for short stay visitors, the Barn combines modern facilities and great comfort with a traditional style in a peaceful setting.
The conversion of the Barn has incorporated many traditional design features such as the stable-door, exposed beams, oak framed wall, local craftsman-made doors & latches and the flagstones and old pine wood floors. The décor features original artwork and local artefacts.
Beanacre Barn is bright and particularly spacious, centrally heated throughout and is fitted with modern double glazing. It has easy walking access.
Sitting Room. With double doors which open on to the secluded patio, this delightful room is bright, cool and airy in summer. At the other end of the year however it can provide a cosy place to curl up and relax in front of the roaring log fire. It is fully equipped with a ‘freeview’ television, DVD player and a music centre with radio, tape and CD. Internet access is available via a WiFi network. The “Relyon” sofa bed (with sprung mattress) provides an additional double bed for short stay visitors if required. The lighting may be dimmed to suit your mood.
Kitchen / Dining Room. A modern traditionally styled kitchen, equipped to an extremely high standard to help make even this aspect of your holiday a pleasure! Facilities include a ceramic hob and fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, large upright fridge/freezer and washing machine.
Use of a tumble dryer is available on request. The spacious dining area has a large pine table with seating for four.
The Bedroom has comfortable twin beds with feather/down duvets & pillows, fine cotton bed linen and bedspreads. There is ample storage and hanging space. A television and radio are provided and the room has adjustable lighting.
Shower Room. This room features a luxuriously spacious shower area with power shower, complemented by a washbasin, toilet and bidet.
What you can see from the Window: The Beanacre Barn is south-facing with views of the walled cottage garden which is for the exclusive use of residents in the Barn. The garden is a particularly outstanding feature and is regularly featured in local press.
Tourist Attractions: The Barn is located 4 miles north of the ancient and very beautiful cathedral city of Wells. Explore its unspoilt streets, the farmers’ market and visit the magnificent Cathedral and the moated Bishop’s Palace. Bath and Bristol are both 13 miles and there is a wealth of places of interest nearby. Places such as mystical Glastonbury Tor and ancient Abbey amid the Somerset Levels, towering Cheddar Gorge and its caves and many stunning National Trust properties all within 40 minutes drive.
Eating and Drinking: The village pub, The Horse & Jockey, is less than half a mile from The Beanacre Barn. There are many good pubs and restaurants within 2-3 miles. Please see the Beanacre Barn’s website for more recommendations and information.
