With just a handful of character houses, fishermen, rock-pools, deck chairs and a safe friendly feeling, it is the perfect place for families to build sand castles, go rock pooling, or for couples to just relax. There are no noisy arcades or kiss-me-quick hats, just good old-fashioned seaside bliss. It’s even got a donkey.

The Lighthouse has three bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en-suite), a fantastic octagonal kitchen/dinner and a snug with folding sliding doors leading out onto a large private decking.
Situated on the headland of Steephill Cove every room can boast sea and coastline views. The master bedroom boasting breathtaking panoramic sea/coastline views and the other two bedrooms with fully glazed doors leading onto the decking: this property really does have the “wow” factor.
The whole house is finished to a very high standard with everything supplied, from all your kitchen equipment and bedding to beach blankets and toys. It even has an outdoor shower on the decking for those wonderful sandy children and toes.
To holiday in the Lighthouse, will truly be a wonderful experience of life right on the beach, whether it be in the summer or the winter, with family or friends.
Tourist Attractions: Carisbrooke Castle, near Carisbrooke. Great family attraction with plenty of things to do inside and out. King Charles 1 spent his last year imprisoned here before being executed. Two Medieval deep wells, Castle Keep, famous donkeys and the battlements to explore. Osbourne House, a magnificent countryside retreat of Queen Victoria is a must. Make a grander entrance through a new reception area where an exhibition gives visitors a taste of the treats in store. Visit the newly refurbished Dining Room and Durbar Room with its exquisite Indian gifts. Stroll round the beautiful grounds, including the Victorian Walled Garden and the hot houses of tropical plants, terraced gardens and the hot houses of tropical plants. During the summer, don’t miss the delightful Swiss Cottage designed for the royal children.Or visit Ventnor Botanic Gardens. This is an interesting place for a pleasant amble amongst sub-tropical and exotic plants and trees from around the world. A Free attraction! The very small and quaint Steephill Cove is nearby as well. Amazon World Zoo Park near Newchurch is a great award winning attraction for the family. Learn about the rainforests and conservation, as well as birds, reptiles, insects, from the tropical rainforests. Outside displays.
Eating and Drinking:Right on the door step is The Boathouse restaurant which is fast becoming very popular with both locals and holiday makers alike. With opening hours only being lunch time and just 30 seats to fill, booking is strongly advised. You could be forgiven for thinking you were in the Mediterranean or even some people say the Caribbean, when sat on the deck with a chilled glass of wine and dining on the freshest crab and lobster. The restaurant is renowned for its fresh crab and lobster with crisp salads and fresh bread. With no advertising this has become so popular just by word of mouth. A little further afield in Ventnor is the Hambrough a Michelin star restaurant. Currently at number 20 in The Good Food Guide The Hambrough offers breathtaking views over the English Channel as our guests share our passion for food and experience unique hospitality in this sub-tropical part of the Island.
Food store: There is a Co-Op in Ventnor and if you want to pre order your grocery ready for your arrival at the Lighthouse Sainsbury’s in Sandown will organise that for you.
Sports and Activities: The Isle of Wight is a paradise for cyclists and there is a popular 62 miles / 100 km cycleway around the island, which offers some splendid views of the countryside and Isle of Wight coastline. Bikes can be hired from Wight Cycle Hire. Want to get the adrenaline pumping? A excellent round of Golf can be had at Ventnor Golf Coursewhich is the oldest course on the Isle of Wight and was founded in 1892. The course is in a very pleasant downland and cliff-top setting with probably the finest views on the Island. Providing panoramic vistas over the surrounding countryside and English Channel.Then take to the sea as there are registered schools offering kayaking, sailing and surfing.
