Overview
Apple Cottage is a delightful Dorset Holiday Cottage which has been re-furbished recently to the highest standard, providing comfort and modern conveniences with a a traditional rural atmosphere. The cottages were originally a long grain barn built in the Thirteenth Century and were converted to gardeners’ accommodation in the Eighteenth Century.
Set within traditional cottage gardens and adjoining an orchard with chickens nearby, the properties have sweeping views across the Stour valley towards the local cricket pitch. The cottages lies within the curtilage of Deans Court, an historic house with fine gardens which is a venue for a variety of activities.
Downstairs there is a cosy sitting room with woodburner and a large kitchen/dining room and there is also one double / twin with wet room.
Upstairs there are two double rooms with king-size bed and a separate bathroom.
Disabled Access:There is a downstairs double / twin with en suite wet room and is suitable for disabled / elderly guests. Apple Cottage does have the occasional step-up and down as would be expected in a property of this age.
Group Getaway: Attached to Apple Cottage is Plum Cottage which sleeps 4 and can be booked together to sleep 10 people so making ideal large holiday accommodation.
What you can see from the Windows:Sweeping views across the Stour valley towards the local cricket pitch.
Tourist Attractions: Visit Poole Quay with its famous harbour and good restaurants or enjoy a boat ride to Brownsea Island. You can also take the famous chain ferry from Sandbanks to the Isle of Purbeck and visit Studland Bay or Corfe Castle and Swanage. As well as shopping, Poole also has the Lighthouse Theatre which regularly features both national and international acts. Bournemouth, with its seven miles of golden sands is a mere 20 minutes drive from the Chapel and is one of the UK’s top holiday attractions. In addition to its shops, nightlife, theatre/cinemas and gardens, Bournemouth now has Europe’s first artificial surf reef.Within 30 to 40 minutes drive you can visit the New Forestor the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. Salisbury, Dorchester and Shaftesbury are within easy reach, as well as the sea-side resort of Weymouth, Lulworth Cove and Chesil Beach. For the kids the Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World, Adventure Wonderland, Honeybrook Farm, Farmer Palmers and Moors Valley Country Park are good fun.
Eating and Drinking: Wimborne has 13 pubs, all within walking distance of the cottages. Whilst staying, why not visit “Number 9", a restaurant 5 minutes walk away. Enjoy fabulous European cuisine in a beautiful setting with secluded courtyard for al fresco dining. Sporting Activities: A short drive away you can have a great round of Golf at Sturminster Marshall Golf Club which is truly “Dorset’s Little Gem”. 9 holes with 2 sets of tees. Sturminster Marshall offers a good challenge for the average golfer whilst being not too difficult for the learner. Set amongst mature trees and a couple of lakes Sturminster Marshall is truly rural in setting while being easily accessible from a number of main roads. The course is signposted from the A350 Poole- Blandford road when you arrive in the village of Sturminster Marshall. There is great riding facilities at Lulworth Equestrian Centre at Coombe Keynes. They offer Cross country course - each jump offers three different heights to cater for all ages and abilities, superb hacking in Dorset’s finest countryside - much of it off-road through a wide variety of terrain and two qualified instructors to teach children and adults of all ages and abilities.
