Old Stones Cottage is a delightful detached 16th century Derbyshire Self Catering Cottage located in Calver conservation area, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, and conveniently located near Bakewell (4 miles), Chatsworth House (2 miles), Eyam Plague Village (2 miles) and Haddon Hall (7 miles). Calver is a pretty village with a selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and Post Office all just a short walk away. The cottage also has its own off-street parking for one car. FREE WiFi.

The accommodation comprises of an Entrance/ Dining Hall with exposed stonework, beamed ceiling and solid fuel stove. A cosy Living Room with leather sofas, colour TV with Freesat, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, games and books.

There is a breakfast Kitchen with the exposed beams of the original cruck barn, gas-fired two oven AGA, microwave and CD player/cassette radio and Utility Room with fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.

Stairs with wrought iron open-style bannisters lead to first floor with a separate WC and basin. Bedroom one has a king-size bed, dressing table and built-in wardrobes and bedroom two has three full-size single beds (two of which can be linked together to form a superkingsize bed if preferred).

A large, enclosed garden with lovely views of Curbar Edge, seating areas, stone troughs, summer house and barbeque.

What you can see from the Windows:From the superkingsize bedroom, there is a view through an original leaded glass window of Curbar edge. From the front windows you can see the houses opposite (and from the upstairs windows the fields beyond). From the back windows, you can see the garden. There are spectacular views from the garden.

Tourist Attractions: This Peak District cottage makes an ideal base for exploring the local area; try one of the walks from the cottage door or visit Edale, the perfect destination for walking, climbing, mountain biking, hang-gliding or just to sit and admire the magnificent scenery. Close by is Chatsworth House a super attraction for all the family. A warm welcome awaits visitors to this historic house and gardens offering an exciting range of events and entertainment for visitors to enjoy, from firm favourites like the International Horse Trials and the Country Fair, to the expanded Florabundance spring flower festival and our new Textile workshops and outdoor Discovery days. Of similar age to the cottage is Haddon Hall, the home of the Manners family in Derbyshire, and one of the finest medieval and Tudor houses in England. Further afield is Castleton Caverns; ancient underground caves open all year round. Or visit Ladybower Reservoir and the dams which are close by.

Sporting Activities: For Golf lovers, Cavendish Golf club in Buxton, Sickleholme Golf Club in Bamford and Bakewell Golf Club are all within 10 miles. Cavendish was designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie and is rated as one of the best courses in Derbyshire, Sickleholme is an undulating parkland course with great views of the Peak District and Bakewell is a 9-hole course overlooking the famous town. For Horse Riding visit Ladybooth Equestrian Centre which offers a wide range of ponies and horses to cater for all types of riders and a variety of riding packages. These include escorted Pony Trekking, Horse Riding, Farm Rides and Riding Lessons. Fly fishing enthusiasts can buy day tickets for the River Wye which flows through Bakewell from The Peacock at Rowsley from April to early October; course fisherman can also buy daytickets for the River Derwent. There is also fishing at Ladybower Fishery and Ladybower reservoir.

Drinking and Eating: 250 yds away is the Derwentwater Arms offering freshly prepared meals with views over the village cricket pitch and along the valley. 300 yds away is the Eyre Arms, a popular pub with families. Just 2 miles away is Baslow with a selection of Bistro pubs and restaurants; try Rowleys or Charlies Bar or the Michelin starred Fischers.

Foodstore: There is a Spar shop 500yds away and a Co op in Bakewell, not forgetting the monthly Farmers Market. The nearest large supermarkets are Tesco and Sainsbury at Millhouses in Sheffield which is 6 miles away. Why not pre order you groceries ready for your arrival at the Cottage.
