The Farmhouse is Helsbury’s flagship property, it has an imposing scale and looks out over the whole park, it’s a granite and slate built traditional farmhouse with 3 double bedrooms and large open spaces downstairs. Starting in the huge kitchen with it’s bespoke oak units and Aga, through the generous dining area and into an ample yet cosy drawing room with a woodburner at one end and TV at the other. Alternatively you can find yourself in the huge breakfast room with glass walls on three sides with the most spectacular views over the Camel valley and up onto the moor.

The galleried staircase takes you upstairs past the unique and stunning ‘shoal’ light fitting where you can relax, read and enjoy the peace and tranquility afforded by the Helsbury experience. From there you enter the enormous master suite with ensuite, or go up to the other wing where there are two further double bedrooms and spacious family bathroom.

The farmhouse is very well equipped with digital TV, 5 different fridges in the kitchen, washer dryer in the utility room and 2 woodburners downstairs. It is the height of classic, contemporary style.

And outside it has the benefit of an enclosed dog area with kennel, a separate garden with eating and barbecue area as well as the garden area to the front which leads you down to the pool facility and the on site walks.

Tourist Attractions: No visit to Cornwall would be complete without a day’s visit to the Eden Project with its distinctive white domes, the Eden Project is Cornwall’s best-known tourist attraction. But it’s much more than just a big green theme park and visitors can expect to come away with a better understanding of the environment and their interaction with it. Also visit Tregrehan Garden a dramatic 20ha woodland garden created over the last 200 years by the Carlyon family, forming an exotic green gene bank of known source plants in a temperate rainforest. Within tower some two dozen trees recorded as the biggest of their type in the country. And a day trip to Bodmin will keep you busy on a wet day. The Bodmin & Wenford Railway is part of a network of railways that grew up around Bodmin from 1834, when the original Bodmin & Wadebridge Railway opened. The line ran from Wadebridge to Wenfordbridge, with a branch line to Bodmin, and was built to transport sand from the Camel Estuary. And Bodmin Jail which was built in 1778 to house criminals from throughout the county of Cornwall. It was the first jail known to hold inmates in individual cells and was notorious for the public executions by hanging, which took place outside the jail until 1862.

With its cosy bars, huge roaring log fires and sloping beamed ceilings, The Old Inn & Restaurant is Cornwall’s highest Inn and is situated in the moorland village of St Breward, best known for its granite quarries, breathtaking views, rich history and roaming ponies. Also worth a trip out to try two of world-class restaurants such as Rick Stein’s in Padstow and Jamie Oliver’s at Watergate Bay, there’s a range of high quality eateries within easy reach, many specialising in local seafood delicacies.

Testimonials

  • "We had a fantastic holiday. We have only recently rescued our Chocolate Lab and it was great to see her have such a lovely time. You must be very proud of Helsbury Park. We look forward to returning"

  • June 2010

  • "This is our seventh year and eighth stay at Helsbury Park and yet again it has been a fantastic holiday! Thank you."

  • October 2010

  • "Just to say a big thank you for our lovely week away, I know the weather couldn't have been better but Helsbury would have been very comfortable to be in, even if we had to be more house bound - the pool was a huge hit and the dogs are exhausted from days on the beach and just mooching around the bottom field and stream."
