Holiday Advice

Taking a holiday in a self catering property has many benefits over staying in  a Hotel or Bed and Breakfast. Its more flexible and far easier to chill out and relax, eating when and where you choose and using the space of a house to unwind and experiencing home from home comforts and luxury amenities.

Over the last ten years self catering has changed dramatically. What was once an option of accommodating larger parties in what was sometimes very basic accommodation, the industry has transformed to now offer some stunning luxury properties to suit every type of holiday you require.

So now choosing the right holiday cottage has become so important to all of us. We all have different requirements for our holidays. Some of us want a romantic hideaway to spend time with our love one away from it all. Others want space to spend time with family and friends, from celebrating an occasion to large family get-togethers, where all the family can enjoy breakfasts, lunch and dinner together. Many people want to experience true english scenery and escape to the country and soak up farm life and breathtaking country scenery, whereas like myself, many of us find there is nothing more therapeutic than gazing out across the sea curled up in front of the fire.

Firstly, it is important to decide what it is you are looking for before embarking on your search. What type of location do you want, country village, seaside town or totally away from it? How many people are you taking with you? Is your pet dog coming along, as you will need to search for dog welcome properties. Are you taking your elderly parents with you, who may need accommodation on the ground floor or even need some easy access features.  If you’re taking a young family you will need to consider what facilities they need, and escaping to a country village or staying miles away from anyway may not be suitable for young children as there may not be many family oriented attractions or indoor games rooms and play areas.

We have made the website easy for you to search for your required features and on each of the property pages its worth spending time looking at the facilities page, as here you will find exactly what the properties features and amenities are and this will help you decide if the property will suit your needs.

It’s best to make a selection of properties that will suit your requirements and save them to your personal short list. Have a few properties to choose from as this will help in securing a holiday in the time your require. Once you have made your selection, send the owner/manager an enquiry through our on-line enquiry form and remember to ask any relevant questions about the property and area which you feel may affect your decision to book that particular property.

Once you have made your decision and want to book the property, in the months leading up to your holiday, it may be worth making a packing list of things you will have to take with you. All the properties on our website provide bed linen and towels, however you may want to include beach towels and games for the kids. Usually if a child’s cot is provided you will need to bring your own bed linen for the cot and any other familiar things that your baby might require.

If you are going to be eating in a lot, it’s worth finding out what is provided as far as basic catering provisions. It may also be worth you pre ordering a supermarket home delivery to the property on the eve of your arrival. Most properties are situated near to a large supermarket who provide a home delivery service and you will find this information at the bottom of the property overview page. Many of the properties listed on our website also offer ready made meals delivered to the house and I highly recommend it’s worth considering doing that for your first night.

Finally, all of the properties on this website have been lovingly cared for and improved by the owners, who take great pride in offering you a unique property with many giving their own personal touches to your stay. Please respect their property and leave it in the way you found it, breakages are sometimes unavoidable, however it’s common curtesy to let the owner/manager know of any breakages or any equipment that may have stopped working during your stay. This will help retain the same quality and facilities to the next guests.

Most of all, enjoy your holiday, feel at home in these properties and soak up the local culture and surroundings and we guarantee you will have a fabulous time.
